In order to understand the relationship between these variables
and the hypothesis, it was necessary to first define the field of interest,
namely what the population of the article was. According to
Welman et al. (2005: 52), the main object that questionnaires areaimed at is referred to as the population; in this case, it concerned
all the hotels situated in the City Centre, on the Atlantic Seaboard
and at the Foreshore in Cape Town. However, it was also necessary
for the researcher to identify the departments within the hotels
that were relevant to the variables of the hypothesis.
