There is little doubt that the founder team, or the top management team is a key component in the success for failure of the new venture (Virany and Tushman, 1986). The new venture team is crucial to attracting investors, for investors look for experience and integrity in management (Tyebjee and Bruno, 1984). The team is also a key element in venture growth (Bird, 1989), and without a team to plan, manage and control the activities of the growing enterprise, the firm’s growth will be limited to what the founder can personally supervise and manage (McCarthy, Krueger, and Schoenecker, 1990).
