5. Stereotyping and de-individualization
In his September 14, 2001 speech, Bush positioned America in the role of leader of global
virtues when he stated that, "Americans showed a deep commitment to one another and an
abiding love for country. Our unity is a kinship of grief and a steadfast resolve to prevail against
our enemy. This unity against terror is now extending across the world. ….we are freedom's
defender." In the September 20, 2001 speech, he drew upon barbarian threats to freedom,
"Whether we bring our enemies to justice or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done."
He points out that the "civilized world is rallying to America's side.
