1.6.5 Headwork Complex of Main Dam
1.6.5.1 Topography and Geomorphology
Its located is plain land form type, with many bends in the river channel and the gradient of the riverbed is relatively gentle. The width of the river channel at the dam axis is about 37m, and the water surface is at about El.318.8m. both banks of the river are overburden bank slopes with relatively dense vegetation covers and the natural state is stable. Both have gentle landform, without development of terrace and the highest place is at about El. 325m. Large areas of bedrock are outcrop at the dam site and the riverbed on both the L/B and the R/B are outcrop with bedrock.
1.6.5.2 Layout of Main Works
The sequence o f the main hydraulic structures in the headwork complex of the HPP from left to right is as follow: L/B flood wall, power intake, 1 flood release/ desilting gate, 5 flood-release gates , and R/B flood wall. The full length of the gate dam crest will be 82m, the FSL will be at El. 322.50m, the dam crest will be at El. 324.5m and the maximum gate (dam) height will be 9.5m (excluding cogging). Both the desilting gate and the flood-release gate are open flat-bottom gate. The width of the flood release/desilting section is 64.5m; the length along water flow direction is 10.0m. The bottom slab is at El. 316.50m, the thickness of gates bottom slab is 1.50m, the thickness of middle of pier is 2.5m, the thickness of side piers is 1.5m, and the opening dimensions of both the flood-release outlets and desilting outlets are 8.0m (W X H).

In order to ensure the power intake to be free from sediment, the upper reaches between the flood-release gate and desilting gate are arranged with a concrete sand arrester/sediment dyke with length and width of 28.0m and 1m respectively, and a concrete guide wall with the length of 10m.
The left side of the power intake is arranged with a 85m-long twist surface + flood wall, and it is to be placed concrete in combination with L/B power take, while the right side of the flood-release gate is arranged with a 100m-long twist surface + flood wall, the types of which are both balance weight type. The dam crest is at El. 324.50m, the crest width of the L/B and the R/B flood walls is 0.5m, without requirements for pedestrians.
