In conclusion, two DlGH3s were isolated from longan fruit, in which DlGH3.1 might be only related to pericarp growth while DlGH3.2 involved in both pericarp growth and fruit ripening. Moreover, the responses of DlGH3s to plant growth substances were different and dependent on fruit development stage and fruit tissue. The present work on GH3 genes might provide the basis for future studies aiming at unraveling the function of primary auxin-response genes and non-climacteric fruit ripening mechanisms during fruit growth and development.
