In view of the competitive nature of container cargo transportation in the global container market, we chose to discuss the Asian-Pacific region as the strongest and most influential among the world regions. The focus of this paper has been to analyze this region and to discern its future condition. In order to understand and analyze the Asian-Pacific, we begin our paper at a global level with an analysis of the world economy and trends in the trade market, narrowing in next for a look into the present scales of containerization trade. We focus, then, on the situation of each of the main players in Asian-Pacific containerization. More significantly, the paper forecasts and analyzes the main players of containerization in the Asian-Pacific region in container throughput (for1999to 2010) and does the same for Chinese export freight rate (March 2000 to February 2001). We also examine strategies, which provide the opportunity for anticipatory, preparatory action for the aforementioned periods. A preliminary look at likely future developments reveals uncertainty about how Asian-Pacific containerization will develop in the future. The paper thus recommends a number of strategies which when adopted could further enhance the rapid development of the sector.
