We are now accepting FAST financial aid applications for students planning to participate in AFS programs departing in the summer/fall of 2015.
Note: If you are pursuing a spring 2015 AFS program and would like to still be considered for a need-based scholarship, please follow the steps below to submit a FAST financial aid application.
Average need-based aid awards are between $200-$2,000 and based on financial need.
Destination and length of program will also be considered.
Families who qualify typically have household incomes of $65,000 or less. If you have questions about whether you should apply based on your income level, please contact the scholarships team at scholarships@afsusa.org.
Please visit our fundraising page for more ideas on how you can raise money to help cover your tuition.
AFS-USA utilizes the online service of Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process financial aid applications. Final award decisions are determined solely by AFS-USA.
FAST Need Based Application
How to Apply:
Begin the Process. Start your AFS Application (if you haven't already).
Apply for FAST. Click on the “FAST” button to the right to begin your FAST application ($41 fee payable by credit card.) If you do not have a credit card or cannot budget the fee, please see our fee waiver policy.
Send Financial Information. Mail your supporting tax documents to FAST. Upon completion of your online FAST application, you will receive an email from FAST specifying which tax documents you must mail to them. This email will also contain instructions on how to use FAST's quick processing system to ensure your tax documents receive priority handling once they are received by FAST. We encourage you to use the quick processing system.
It typically takes FAST several days to verify your taxes once they are received. AFS-USA will then review your application and email you the results within one week. If you are also applying for merit-based aid, AFS-USA will wait to receive your merit-based aid application before bringing your application to the Global Leaders review committee.
