Concerning the actual scores obtained in thissurvey, it should be noted that the relatively highexpectation scores are not uncommon amongGreek patients, whereas the gap scores obtainedwere of similar magnitude to those obtained inother Greek studies.31,32 The fact that olderrespondents of the current survey tend to perceivethe quality of the services delivered ashigher than younger respondents do, especiallywith regard to responsiveness, assurance andempathy, could be attributed to several causes.One is that older people may have had moredealings with the public health sector and thushave more examples to compare their experienceswith, whereas younger people, not havingexperienced many health centre visits, may tendto be more strict in their judgments. It would beinteresting to explore more deeply the questionof how previous experiences affect the perceivedquality of a particular health service
