Review of “The Phantom of The Opera”
The Phantom of The Opera is the story of a beautiful chorus singer Christine who joins the Paris Opera House. The Opera Ghost who not actually ghost but he is a musical genius who has hidden away to avoid the cruel of people, falls in love with Christine, and privately tutors her until Christine be given lead roles. Things get worse when Christine meets with her childhood sweetheart, Raoul and they fall in love. The Phantom decides to kidnap her and Raoul is now the only one who can stop him.
I will review the Phantom of The opera in 4 main topics. The first topic is about the characteristics of the movie. This movie is so emotional and romantic; they show about love, art and the spirit of music. The sets and costumes were absolutely beautiful. Great art direction and imaginative camera work make this a stunning film.
The second is about the music. Of course, Andrew Lloyd Webber's music is the whole point of the film and the songs are absolutely wonderful. Not many films have had ability to impress me. It's actually completely changed my view on musicals in general. Lord Lloyd Webber mixed between that tradition and modern musical theater and the songs fill your ears, even if you have never heard the songs or seen the show, you may be tempted to sing along.
The third topic is about the performances or characters of the actors and actresses. Emmy Rossum (who plays Christine) is quite attractive and has some actual singing talent. She was 17 when this was filmed and she was absolutely outstanding. Patrick Wilson (Raoul), has a good voice. Although Raoul seemed a bit wet and droopy. However, the star for me was Gerard Butler (the Phantom). Although his singing skill wasn't entirely right but he tried his best to do his own singing and something about the way Mr. Butler played was so sexy. Another person who surprises me was Jennifer Ellison. She was good in her role as Meg, Christine's best friend. Miss Ellison has been trained in acting, singing and dancing and she carried it off very well
Lastly, this movie is suited for everyone. Every scene is very impressive so the watchers are not bored with the repeated watching. Please do not worry about wasting time and money for this movie. I give you 100% guarantee that you will not disappointed with this fantastic movie.
