Lately I've found the blog and site of the US-based photographer Lisa Holloway. I have to say that I'm blown away by her natural light portraits. Her control of light is unbelievable and she has a very distinct "look" to her pics. Particularly her outdoor pics seem to have this "shot under a giant softbox" look. See some samples of what I mean:

Now, I'm trying to figure out the technique she's using. I've looked around and she's got some before-and-after samples on her blog, but her explanation is very generic.
My guess of what she's doing:
- Use good gear and good lenses (70-200 f2.8 / 85 f1.2/1.4 200 F2, 50 f1.4)
- shooting in the golden hour(s)
- Shooting either in shade or away from direct sunlight. Sometimes the sun is out of camera to the site, as to backlit the hair, but never (or hardly ever) the subject's face directly
- Use extensive PP (D&B, colour correction, WB, etc) to enhance the existing light
That's my best guess. Wondering if any of you could expand on that list ? I am very intrigued by how she achieves her trademark "look and feel".
thanks
