The index analysis of characterizat

The index analysis of characterization found in the novel the Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas can
show us the signs and the referenced objects which have causalities relation ( in the more comprehensive
meaning). In other words, signs which give index that the characters suitable with his or her characterizations
were found. Characterization is the psychological side of the character which appears when the character comes
to its development. In the novel the Man in the iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas can be found 108
characterizations, where 79 characterizations taken from eight major characters and 29 characterizations taken
from 14 minor characters. Then, 44 of 108 characterizations from major (16 characterizations from eight
characters) and minor characters (eight characterizations from five characters) are regarded as the representative
in this study. Since semiotics is the study of signs and novel is a literary work, it is expected that English
literature lecturers and students could enrich knowledge of analyzing literary works through semiotic analysis.

Analisis indeks karakterisasi ditemukan dalam novel Man di Iron Mask oleh Alexandre Dumas dapat
menunjukkan tanda-tanda dan objek direferensikan yang memiliki sebab-akibat hubungan (di lebih komprehensif
makna). Dengan kata lain, tanda-tanda yang memberikan indeks yang sesuai dengan karakter nya penokohan
ditemukan. Karakterisasi adalah sisi psikologis karakter yang muncul ketika karakter datang
untuk perkembangannya. Dalam novel Manusia dalam Topeng besi dengan Alexandre Dumas dapat ditemukan 108
penokohan, di mana 79 penokohan diambil dari delapan karakter utama dan 29 penokohan diambil
dari 14 karakter minor. Kemudian, 44 dari 108 karakterisasi dari besar (16 penokohan dari delapan
karakter) dan karakter minor (delapan penokohan dari lima karakter) dianggap sebagai wakil
dalam penelitian ini. Karena semiotika adalah studi tentang tanda-tanda dan novel adalah sebuah karya sastra, diharapkan bahasa Inggris
dosen dan mahasiswa sastra bisa memperkaya pengetahuan menganalisis karya sastra melalui analisis semiotik.
