unicellular organism is a form of life that consists of only one cell. all activities necessary for life, such as eating, excretion, and production, happen inside this single cell. the cell contains the same structures found in multicellular organisms, mostly has nuclear membrane, and is able to live independently. some of these unicellular organisms are algae, and yeast. however, some lower form of unicellular organisms such as bacteria lack a nuclear membrane and do not have a morphological nucleus like other organisms. therefore, the DNA is scattered in the cytoplasm, and all activities inside the cell are controlled by only one circular chromosome
