According to the hydropower development planning of Xeset Basin, the development means of Houay Por HPP is headrace type. In order to guarantee normal in taking and stable operation of the HPP, it is to recommend in taking with gate dam, which is to divert water via a 2.6m trapezoidal channel to earth-rock dam reservoir area. It is to intake water from to L/B intake of earth-rock dam, them divert water to the ground forebay via a 1.7km trapezoidal open channel, and divert water via open pipe to the ground powerhouse for power generation. The FSL U/S of dam is El. 320/00m/ According to reconnaissance, it does not have the topographic and geologic conditions for arranging a regulationg reservoir.
1.5.3 Installed Capacity
Houay Por HPP is to be conducted hearace-type development. According to the comprehensive utilization requirements for development of the said river reach, considering the power supply range of Houay Por HPP in the power gird and its functions it is to work out three schemes for 12MW, 15MW and 18MW, and conduct comparisons from the perspective of installed capacity power generation, benefits and annual utilization hours.
Under the same rated head, with the increase of installed capacity, the annual utilization hours will decrease. Therefore, it is beneficial to duty increase generation head and installed capacity considerin from the perspective of annual utilization hours as 4,000h, it is to select installed capacity of Houay Por HPP as 15MW.
1.5.4 Rated Head, Model and Number of Units
The head range of Houay Por HPP is 60-67m. According to such characteristics as the range of operating head changes and small working discharge, it is to select Francis turbine units.
1.5.4.1 Selection of rated Head of Turbine Through calculation the maximum head of Houay Por HPP is 67m the minimum head is 60m the entire year weighted average head is 62.6m and the weighted average head during the flood season is 61.3m. the head changes of the HPP are mainly caused by head loss of headrace system of the HPP, when the HPP to generating power at full capacity, its head is close to the minimum head in order to guarantee that the HPP can stably operate during the flood season and reduce hindrance time of turbine, it is to preliminarily select the rated head of the HPP close to the minimum head of the HPP as 61m
