HanesBrands dedicated the startup
HanesBrands dedicated the startup of Hung Yen South, the company's third manufacturing center in Vietnam, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 21 attended by news media, Vietnam and U.S. government, community leaders, apparel industry guests, and company leaders. Among those representing Hanes were Javier Chacon, senior vice president, global operations, Roberto Mayr, vice president, Eastern Hemisphere operations, Ajay Godbole, manufacturing director, Asia operations, and Phan Quoc Tuan, Hung Yen plant manager.
"Making the investment to open this new manufacturing plant is a significant achievement in HanesBrands' continued growth in Vietnam," Javier told the assembled guests. "It represents the opportunity to conduct business in Vietnam and our long-term commitment here."
Hung Yen South has begun ramping up production of men's woven boxers and will soon start manufacturing bras as well. Once fully operational, the facility will have 6,000 employees.
