Condensate stripper has problem that performance seems to be bad such as low middle temperature that may be caused by excessive carried over of heavier components and condensate (water) accumulated due to high Quench Water Tower overhead temperature. Since Condensate Stripper feed from 5th suction drum of CGC draw off was fluctuated, it will cause much condensate carried over to condensate stripper therefore make temperature at tray #9~18 fluctuated. The evidence of this problem, there was found much condensate at both CS water sump (tray #13) and bottom section. Regard to this matter, the interface level of 5th Suction drum of CGC was checked. Actual interface level is too low (out from bottom vessel). This condition make the nozzle draw off to 4th Suction drum in gasoline (not in water), so liquid which transfer from bottom of 5th suction drum is not pure condensate (sometimes gasoline intermittent carry over). Due to space volume for water level is small (only pipe or a few of bottom vessel), make the water settling disturbance. Gasoline would be carry over (intermittent) to 4th suction drum via bottom draw off and vaporize again in 4th suction drum then send back again to 5th suction drum. While more gasoline (from carry over) condensed and intermittent no gasoline carry over from bottom, make the over gasoline in 5th suction drum and should be transfer to CS. This condition makes fluctuated feed flow of CS. While fluctuated flow more than 40 T/H, in short time make liquid flooded in tray (can be see by decreasing temperature at tray #9). The flooded liquids then continue to next tray. Water sump at tray #13 received more gasoline & condensate from upper tray, then the separation disturbance and flooded too. This flooded liquid then continue to next tray (can be see by decreasing temperature at tray #18 and tray #30.
