In the past, transport and industry are the two major
final energy consuming sectors in the country. As seen from
Table 3, these two sectors together consumed about 74%
of the total FED, while the remaining 26% is consumed by
residential (16%), commercial (6%) and agriculture (4%)
sectors in 2000. Over the study period, the two sectors (i.e.,
transport and industry) together would continue to have a
growing share in total FED, ranging from 81% under TB2
to 83% under TA1 in 2050. Between 2000 and 2050, the
total FED is estimated to grow at an average rate of 4.5%,
4.0%, 3.9% and 2.9% per year under TA1, TA2, TB1 and
TB2, respectively.
