Lactic acid being
the heaviest component will be trapped in the bottom and therefore
there is no lactic acid found in the distillate products. As can
be seen, high product purity leads to less loss of reactants in the
distillate. Mainly methanol is removed from the top of the column
compared to the case with low product purity (0.85)
