The baht weakened to 30.18 baht aga

The baht weakened to 30.18 baht against the US dollar on Thursday, from its 6-year high of 29.88 baht on Monday, as market liquidity was being restored, according to the Bank of Thailand.Vachira Arromdee, assistant governor for financial markets, said the Thai currency was at 30.18 baht to the dollar on Thursday morning, weaker than its average value on Monday of 30.12 baht per dollar."Liquidity restoration has started in the markets," she said.However, Ms Vachira warned that the baht remained highly volatile as markets had yet to find balance between dollar buy and sell.The BoT would closely monitor the movement of the baht. People should wait for normalcy in the markets before making transactions, the assistant governor said.The baht appreciated to 29.88 baht per dollar on Monday afternoon, its strongest rate in six years. The BoT attributed that to accelerated transactions before the New Year.
