I would say Beethoven’s deafness contributed to who he was. He was still able to compose so well despite this and that’s what really astonished everyone. His deafness allowed him to enter this strange, transcendent realm where he was able to compose this music. His actual music changed in the sense when he became deaf, he could not hear woodwinds and singer’s voices. He composed works in the range that he could hear which were more low-frequency notes.
