Gas chromatographic analyses of extracted essential oil of control and sUVB-treated plant samples were performed on Perkin Elmer GC 85000 gas chromatographs, equipped with a fused silica capillary column (25 m  0.32 mm;film thickness 0.25 mm), coated with dimethylsiloxane (BP-1). The injector operating conditions were as follows: direct injection of samples; injection volume 0.0641 ml; split injection (split ratio: 1:80); temperature programming 60–220 1C at the rate of 4 1C minÀ1 increase and then held isothermal at 220 1C for 15 min; injection port temperature 250 1C; detector temperature 300 1C; and carrier gas nitrogen at 34 cm sÀ1 linear velocity. GC/MS analysis of oil samples was carried out using a Shimadzu QP-2000 instrument (ULBON H-R-1) equipped with a fused silica capillary column (50 m  0.25 mm, film thickness 0.25 mm). An MSD electron ionization system was programmed with ionization energy of 250 eV while acquisition mass range was 40–450 amu under electron ionization (EI) at 70 eV. The oven temperature was 100 1C (7 min) and then programmed at 5 1C minÀ1 up to 250 1C the carrier gas was helium (1 ml minÀ1 flow rate).
