The outcomes from the use of transactional strategies in the teaching of
reading and summary writing skills can be discussed as follows:
As displayed in Table 2, students in the experimental group outperformed students in the control group, so it could be claimed that the
English instruction delivered through transactional strategies was more
effective in enhancing English proficiency. Improvement in reading and
summary writing abilities may be a result of the students' practice of the
concept map technique which is a part of the instruction. Concept map is a
process where the students distill what they understand from their reading
