Optic Nerve Colobomas: Optic nerve coloboma was first
described by Barnett and Ogien in 1972 in Charolais cattle and
consequently reported by others also47. The genetics of these
lesions is somewhat curious: the autosomal dominant
inheritance of the condition is completely penetrant in the bull
but only incompletely penetrant (52%) in the cow, in fact
recessive in F1 crossbred animals
