Globalization and economic liberalization have led to an increase in the number of cross-national business interactions and a corresponding rise in transnational litigation and arbitration. Many of these arbitration proceedings are administered by a select number of arbitral institutions, some of which are expanding their services around the world. In spite of this general trend, most cases are decided by a seemingly small number of self-regulated professionals, constantly travelling to European capitals like London, Stockholm, The Hague, and Paris.
