Transcript of The Addiction to Technology
The Addiction to Technology It seems like we're all surrounded by technology today. I have a proposal! It's one of our biggest sub-cultures! Why do we get so attached? Pros Cons Gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, and computers of all sizes that require immediate attention at all times More often in contrast with the past, students don't complete their hands on tasks due to more importantly answering a text or e-mail. What's happening is students are relying more on technology and believing its more important over actual human contact. But why? (group discussion) Studies conducted that student's worst fear is being alone with their own thoughts and feelings. One of the main forms of escaping is in fact by using technology. Procrastination plays a huge role in this, while most students would rather get on Facebook instead of completing their to-do list. And we all know procrastinating isn't fun! We all, just as much as students, invest so much time in being online that sometimes a number one question we should ask ourselves is, "What are we really getting out of it?' Sometimes a person can't even take the time out of day to understand how their feeling, they feel too empowered by all the technology around them. Technology works for us, not the other way around! Medical Field It helps us find cures for diseases and sicknesses that can be prevented before even occurring. Communication between doctors and patients has become more convenient, flexible, and sensitive.
