Thuy: I am working diligently with the slaughter factory and with the US government representative. Here is what I have learned so far:1. The slaughter facility must be approved by the NAFIQAD in VN. 2. Once the facility is approved the NAFIQAD put that facility on the approved list, and imports can be accepted from that facility. 3. The procedure to have a facility approved is for the facility to send the Appendix 3 to the US Embassy in Hanoi. The US Embassy sends the original document to NAFIQAD, and the the NAFIQAD puts the facility on the approved list. 4. There are several facilities in the US that are already on the approved list with NAFIQAD. 5. We buy the beef from a facility that is already approved on the NAFIQAD, and ship it to Vietnam. 6. We do not own a slaughter facility. We do not need our company to be on the NAFIQAD list. 7. The only companies in the US that are on the list of companies that slaughter beef, or companies that store the beef frozen before they are shipped to VN. 8. The slaughter factory buys cows from many different farmers and sources. Those cattle producers are not on the NAFIQAD list and do not need to be. The slaughter factory must go through the process with the US government to make sure the cattle are healthy etc. The slaughter factory must get documentation from the farmer that raised the cattle and show that to the US government. My conclusion: We choose a slaughter factory that is already on the approved list by NAFIQAD.
You tell the officials that you are only buying beef from the suppliers already on their list.
