Sophomore year is said to be one of the better years of the college experience, and this is absolutely true at Sweet Briar. Personally, sophomore year was a blast, and I enjoyed every second of it.
I was able to take on new leadership responsibilities as I became a co-president of the business club, the head chairwoman of the Founders' Day Committee, the secretary of the Student Relations Committee, and the marketing director of the Salt Block Project. In addition, I was also the president to the Class of 2014. I had already declared my major at the end of my freshman year, but was able to broaden my business experience through work with the Salt Block Project and smaller projects in the business department. Finally, I was able to grow socially, as I made friends through clubs, social events and the three taps clubs I am now involved in. I did all of this while balancing 15- and 16-credit semesters and completing the year with straight A's.
Sophomore year is often referred to as a "slump," but I believe that it is all what you make of it. The key is to focus on academics, participate in events, clubs, and allow yourself some personal time to let loose during the year.
