The 4MAT teaching model relies upon the learning loop which includes the four types of students
introduced by McCharthy and the right and left hemispheres of the brain which makes learning a constant
process. In addition, Hebb, who has managed brain based studies before, has also mentioned the existence of this
kind of learning loop. McCharthy divides this loop that he calls the 4MAT impeller into eight steps and designs
it as a process that is made up of activities which are appropriate for the four types of students. McCharthy
names this loop the “natural learning stage”. In this loop, while the teachers are going around the impeller, they
teach according to personal differences by utilizing the educational strategies that are appropriate for each
student. Consequently, teachers should design in a frame which encompasses the loop wholly and considers the
individual differences (McCarthy & McCarthy, 2003, 2006; Ballone & Czerniak 2001).
