Copying this from a dtac customer’s post to reddit Thailand – moving to Trinet – leading to churn.
“Per my post nearly a week ago I've been transferred to DTAC Trinet without my permission, and I still have no mobile data.
That may sound tragic, except that I was paid up for DTAC Happy data (1gb) and now I have none.
I can go to the bus station, the airport, around the moat, and various shopping centres in Chiang Mai...besides that without mobile data I get lost...hell, I get lost trying to explain to Songteaw and Tuk Tuk drivers where I want to go without being able to show them on a map 50% of the time. I've tried the DTAC call centre phone number 3x time now, they either struggle to understand me (Australian accent maybe, it's not an uncommon problem when I'm in the United States), or on one occasion say they couldn't hear me properly. I've tried random subscribe to/ turn on mobile internet numbers without any success. Yes, I've read since the early days of r/Thailand about various phone options here, so I don't need a lecture on what the various phone company options are.
What I'd like to know is where to sign up to True, AIS or others?
DTAC is easy: I walk into 7-Eleven. I can top it up in 7-Eleven.
I've seen some signage for True in a 7-Eleven but when you ask you're ALWAYS offered DTAC Happy if you're white.
Could anyone suggest the best places to buy not DTAC sims in Thailand.
I've got a rough idea of what's available, but a quick refresh (given they change in price often...DTAC has come down in price over the last 18mths for example) would be welcomed.
Oh, and to anyone who I've ever recommended DTAC to (under my previous now shadowbanned account of jonez450:) don't go there unless you're visiting for less than 7 days. Piece of shit company.
Edit: I should add: I don't give a shit about making phone calls, vs data. If I have to call Australia, I use Skype”.
