Aluminum waste such as dross can be used as a bauxite substitute in the different processes for alumina production. Among other processes, alumina can be obtained from aluminum hazardous waste such as dross, by a hydrothermal process at low temperature, in more stages: acid leaching, purification, precipitation and calcinations. The method presented in this work allows the use of aluminum waste as raw material for extracting an important soluble aluminum fraction as an added value product, alumina, with high grade purity (99.28%).
