Clinical nurses tend to involve the family
members of patients with AUD in the "nursing
process to improve the outcome of AUD care and to
extend the nursing boundary into family care. Head
nurses encourage staff nurses to develop anger
management programs for patients’ family mem-
bers and supervise them regularly to ensure that
competent care is provided. On the academic side,
nursing faculties need to become familiar with
anger management and allow students to learn
about and practice anger management, including
expressing, ventilating, and coping with anger in
appropriate ways by using cognitive—behavioral
therapy. Finally, nursing researchers should con-
tinually validate the efi‘ects and efficacy of the
programs through retesting and develop increas-
ingly more sophisticated anger management pro-
grams forpatients and their family members.
