The limitations of our study should be noted. First, as anecological time-series study, we used outdoor monitoring data torepresent the average exposure levels of the entire exposed population. The resulting measurement error may lead to difficulties ininterpreting the observed effects of air pollution, although simulationstudies suggested that this measurement error wouldgenerally tend to produce bias towards the null. Second, measurements of PM2.5 were derived from only onemonitoring station; however, this is not a substantial issue in timeseriesstudies because the temporal variability of PM2.5 concentrationscan be adequately captured by the central-size monitor.
