1.4.6 Natural Building Materrials
All the elluvial slope wash deposits and weather mudstone and sandstone extensively distributed in the project area may be used as impervious earth materials the contents of elluvial slope wash deposits are clay mixed with a little block detritus and the contents of elluvial slope wash deposits are clay mixed with a little blocky detritus and the preliminarily estimated thickness is about 2-6m. the estimated thickness of weather mudstone and sandstone masses is about 5m. Due to the characteristics of gentle terrain and extensive distribution the materials may be locally exploited and the reserves are sufficient to meet the project needs. Haul distance is short and it is close to the road making it convenient for exploitation and transportation.
Natural sand-gravel materials are extremely scarce in the project area. According to site reconnaissance there is basically not exploitable sand-gravel material in Xeset River or Houay Por Gully. There is exploitable sandstone in the project area and the sand-gravel materials used in the U/S Xeset HPP was sandstone exploited and crashed. According to the existing circumstances the physical naturals and parameters of the said material may be slightly poor. It is selected to be outsourced at the current stage.
The quarry is selected at about 1km D/S of the dam site on the L/B which is topographically flat the distribution of which are at about EL. 314m-323m. the length and width are about 240m and 70m respectively the distribution area is about 1.4X104m2 , the thickness is about 5m-7m the reserves of which can meet the requirements. The upper part of the quarry is an elluvail slope wash stratum, the thickness of which is about 6m the contents of which are detritus, gravel and clay interbedded with sand. The lithology of rock material is basalt being weakly weather and medium thick layer shape, hard, joints are relatively undeveloped which can meet the design requirements. Currently there have been part of the mining planes with roads available (directly accessible), and transportation is convenient.
