Réduit, Ebène and Curepipe [7] amongst others. These are notonly the activity hubs of Mauritius but are also the focal pointsof the road network as they are geographically located in thecountry’s center. Hence, the majority of people transit throughthese places daily to venture across the island, leading toheavy congestion during peak hours in these main regions. However, there exist other alternative routes (e.g.: coastalroads) which may be longer in length but quicker during rushhours, and which may not be known by road users.Redirecting vehicles to these roads can alleviate congestion toan extent and lead to a more free-flowing traffic.
