ABSTRACT - Soft-switching techniques have recently been
applied in the design of dc-ac converters in order to achieve
better pwformance, higher t:ffieiency, and higher power
density. However, the work that has been done in this field is
not widely known. In this paper a systematic overview and
generic classification of the soft-switching dc-ac converters is
presentedl. Their operating principles, performance evaluation,
and design limitations are discussed. Some possible industrial
applications of soft-switched dc-ac converters are addressed.
