From Haad yai visitors can travel to songkhla by bus, taxi or train. A pleasant excursion in Songkhla area is to Koh Yoh, situated in songkhla Lake, one of the largest lakes in southeast Asia. Actually it is a deep inlet rather than a lake, being connected to the sea, and its waters are brackish. Enroute to Koh Yoh a stop may be made at the Fisheries station where enormous white Plakapong are bred. Koh Yoh is renowned for its locally woven cotton called "pha Koh Yoh" and has number of ancient Buddhist monuments. But the real joy is the tranquility of the idyllic landscape in comparison to which gentle Songkhla becomes a bustling frenetic metropolis.
