Dear,
There have question come to ask me about the requirement to use portable GFCI when connecting small charger such as IPAD/IPhone charger. After checked with ESW scope we could notice that
The scope apply only for voltage level above 50 Volt only. However, the voltage of portable device for IPad/IPhone will be only 5 Volt and voltage at Laptop will only 20 V. So when use with this device ESW will not applicable.
There will have question relate to when we connecting power plug(male) charger to receptacle which is 110 or 240 Volt. The risk during connect power to charger will same level as during we connect portable GFCI to the receptacle so there shouldn’t reduce risk if need to use portable GFCI for portable device charger. From above we could consider have no requirement to use portable GFCI for IPAD/IPhone charge.
Please note that the standard will not consider risk if someone use non-genuine charger . This risk shall not happen since we shall not use it since beginning.
Note, GFCI is to protect personal while using hand tool. So some appliance that is double insulation and permanent device that not use in wet area such as television with grounded system then GFCI shall not applicable. I do believe no one will carry television while watching.
Being translated, please wait..
