The definition of clear-cutting in

The definition of clear-cutting in this paper is based on the
degree of removal of the "forest influence." The forest influence
is the effect of the closed forest canopy on the environment of
the land it occupies. This includes the microclimate, through to
the effect that occupancy of soil by tree roots has on soil
microorganisms and soil structure. This, in turn, affects many
ecological processes, such as soil organic matter turnover and
nutrient cycling, and erosion and weathering of mineral soil.
When a forest area is clear-cut, the forest influence is removed
until such time as the trees regrow and the influence has
re-established. However, the surrounding forest maintains a
"shadow" of forest influence some distance into the cutover.
Only when the harvested patch is large enough that the majority
of its area is beyond this forest influence can the area be called
a clearcut (Kimmins 1992).

Definisi yang jelas-pemotongan dalam makalah ini didasarkan pada
tingkat penghapusan "pengaruh hutan." Pengaruh hutan
adalah efek dari kanopi hutan tertutup di lingkungan
tanah yang didudukinya. Ini termasuk iklim mikro, hingga
efek yang hunian tanah oleh akar pohon memiliki di tanah
mikroorganisme dan struktur tanah. Hal ini, pada gilirannya, mempengaruhi banyak
proses ekologi, seperti omset tanah organik materi dan
siklus nutrisi, dan erosi dan pelapukan tanah mineral.
Ketika kawasan hutan adalah jelas, pengaruh hutan dihapus
