There are a few mechanisms for collecting tuna data. The first one is Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS). BAS is using two types of surveys: probability and non-probability. BAS is also considering a secondary data, for example, from PFDA. They review the information initially in different levels: provincial, regional, and national. BAS has the main concern with the current monitoring system, it needs to be improved.
The second mechanism is PFDA. It is an old organization that supporting a fishery industry. For now, PFDA has seven major ports. From those ports, they can collect the data about species and values.
The next one is MARINA and Philippine Coast Guard. They are managing fishing vessels by providing the registration and certification.
NSO is another responsible agency which is doing statistics on fishery exports and imports.
TCAP is caring the cannery production statistics.
SFFAII is the agency that helps to improve tuna industry, solve the problems that affected the production and refer to policy reforms.
The last one is FTWG. It was created to find out the issues related to fishery data. It plays a useful role in coordination of activities of fishery statistics agencies.
