Quieter than Ao Nang, trendier than Phi Phi, Ko Lanta is Krabi's up-and-coming tourist destination - in fact, you could say it has already arrived.
From Klong Dao in the north to Bamboo Bay in the south, Lanta's long western coast is strung with family bungalow resorts, bijou boutique hotels, chilled out backpacker huts as well as some serious five-star opulence.
The main attraction of Ko Lanta - and the secret of its success - is its size. Despite all the development, the long, wide sandy beaches manage to remain semi-deserted, even in peak season. This gives the whole island a wonderfully laidback atmosphere, where you can read all day in your hammock completely undisturbed.
Nightlife is there for those who want it, but the wild parties of Phi Phi and bustling street life of Ao Nang are not for Ko Lanta people. Small, friendly beach bars rule here - day and night.
Right here, in The Lanta Islands Guide, we offer comprehensive tourist information about Krabi's most chilled out island. You'll find a basic beach guide to help you choose which part of Ko Lanta to stay on, as well as some recommended places to stay for every taste and budget on each of them.
There's also a guide to activities, including detailed info on scuba diving in the south Andaman, as well as island tours you can take part in during your holiday and a map and transport information for getting to and getting around Ko Lanta.
We also have guides to eating and drinking on Ko Lanta, with restaurant and bar reviews. Use the links on the left to browse and of course, do not hesitate to email us with any questions. We live locally so know the area well.
Note: this site is no longer updated, and remains online to provide basic info about Lanta Island. We are now focusing on our main site, about the Krabi mainland, www.yourkrabi.com.
