The Holmen tester is more widely used in Europe
than in North America because it simulates the pneumatic
conveyors common in European feed mills. The Holmen tester
requires a smaller sample (i.e., 100 g) than the tumbling can
method (i.e., 500 g). The Holmen tester is harsher than the
tumbling can method and, therefore, yields lower PDI [6,13].
