Our manipulations on the type and n

Our manipulations on the type and number of recommended items were pre-tested
among experts and students. Experts judged the recommendations to be managerially relevant and realistic. Students had to participate in the pre-test session in the same
conditions as would be with the main experiment. After the second visit, they had to
recall the items presented in the “suggestions” column. Most of them were able to say
how many recommendations were presented and to infer why such items were
recommended (we got answers such as “because I bought a book by this author” or
“because I like thrillers”).

Manipulasi kami pada jenis dan jumlah item yang direkomendasikan adalah pra-diuji
di antara para ahli dan mahasiswa. Para ahli menilai rekomendasi untuk manajerial yang relevan dan realistis. Siswa harus berpartisipasi dalam sesi pre-test di yang sama
kondisi seperti akan dengan percobaan utama. Setelah kunjungan kedua, mereka harus
mengingat item disajikan dalam kolom "saran". Kebanyakan dari mereka mampu untuk mengatakan
berapa banyak rekomendasi yang disajikan dan untuk menyimpulkan mengapa barang-barang seperti yang
direkomendasikan (kami mendapat jawaban seperti "karena saya membeli sebuah buku dari penulis ini" atau
"karena aku suka film thriller").
