Clinical nurses tend to involve the familymembers of patients with AUD in the "nursingprocess to improve the outcome of AUD care and toextend the nursing boundary into family care. Headnurses encourage staff nurses to develop angermanagement programs for patients’ family mem-bers and supervise them regularly to ensure thatcompetent care is provided. On the academic side,nursing faculties need to become familiar withanger management and allow students to learnabout and practice anger management, includingexpressing, ventilating, and coping with anger inappropriate ways by using cognitive—behavioraltherapy. Finally, nursing researchers should con-tinually validate the efi‘ects and efficacy of theprograms through retesting and develop increas-ingly more sophisticated anger management pro-grams forpatients and their family members.
