Introduction to e-journal

PTM recognized that there is a need to provide a standard but flexible platform for lecturers, authors, editors and reviewers to collaborate, publish journals after receiving suggestions from a few faculties in 2005 and 2006. The move to develop e-journal system was then initiated in March 2007. This system was initially intended to support the publishing process of peer-reviewed scholarly journals but later after recognizing the broader perspective that the technology provided could support, the name UM Refereed Academic Journal was changed to e-journal. This is also to ensure no confusion over the presently available EJUM system of FSKTM. This e-journal system is an integrated publication management system which aims to collect information on the academic output of University of Malaya instead of only scholarly journals.
Objectives of e-journal
i. build a central repository of publications containing the scientific and technical output of academics which are accessible to the public.
ii. expand the services to include archiving and giving access to the full text where copyright permits
iii. give departments and individuals the ability to manage information on their publications
Types of Document in the system
i. Academic publishing process in peer-reviewed journals
ii. Articles published in refereed scholarly journals
iii. Conference presentations/papers/proceedings
iv. Write ups on research and work carried out by academicians

Pengenalan kepada e-jurnal

PTM menyedari bahawa terdapat keperluan untuk menyediakan platform standard tetapi fleksibel untuk pensyarah, penulis, editor dan pengulas untuk bekerjasama, menerbitkan jurnal selepas menerima cadangan daripada sebuah fakulti Beberapa pada tahun 2005 dan 2006. Langkah untuk membangunkan e- sistem jurnal kemudiannya dimulakan pada bulan Mac 2007. sistem ini pada mulanya bertujuan untuk menyokong proses penerbitan jurnal ilmiah rakan-semula tetapi kemudian selepas mengiktiraf perspektif yang lebih luas bahawa teknologi yang disediakan boleh menyokong, nama UM berwasit Academic Journal telah ditukar kepada e- jurnal. Ini juga untuk memastikan tiada kekeliruan sistem EJUM yang kini boleh didapati dari FSKTM. Sistem e-jurnal adalah sistem pengurusan penerbitan bersepadu yang bertujuan untuk mengumpul maklumat mengenai output akademik Universiti Malaya bukan hanya jurnal ilmiah.
Objektif e-jurnal
i. membina pusat simpanan penerbitan yang mengandungi output saintifik dan teknikal ahli akademik yang boleh diakses kepada orang ramai.
ii. memperluaskan perkhidmatan untuk memasukkan arkib dan memberi akses kepada teks penuh di mana hak cipta membenarkan
iii. memberi jabatan dan individu keupayaan untuk menguruskan maklumat mengenai penerbitan mereka
