Sample characteristicsThe sample was defined as people that visited aparticular public Primary Health Care centre ofIKA located in a heavily populated urban areaof Attica between July and September 2009. Theparticipants were approached by a trainedinterviewer as soon as they arrived at thePrimary Health Centre, and they were asked toparticipate in a study that measures serviceexpectations about the particular health care.They were assured for the anonymity and theconfidentiality of their responses. At this point,participants were given the expectations versionof the SERVQUAL questionnaire. After thevisit, participants were approached again by theinterviewer and they were kindly asked to completethe second part of the questionnaire, whichincluded the perceptions version of SERVQUAL.Out of a total of 513 patients approached,450 completed both the expectations andthe perceptions version of the questionnairewhile 63 refused to participate in the study,either at the beginning or by refusing to completethe post-measure.
