Over the last 18 months the CTEP D&C group has moved down the path of understanding and implementing WellSafe. The Global Technical Standards (GTS) and our own CTEP SOPs provide the framework upon which we will be judged in terms of WellSafe assurance. Many of you have been intimately involved in developing and fine tuning the Global Technical Standards (GTS) and the associated “Blue Language” that allows SBUs to modify the standards to address basin specific issues. To all of you I say thanks, as I know how challenging this endeavor has been. Our Business Unit Certification, originally scheduled for June 1, has been delayed, but we see that goal now within reach. Below is a summary of the status of each of the seven GTS to be employed in 2015 and beyond. Also included in this article is a synopsis of the four WellSafe components that will be implemented in the near term. As we continue down this journey, we will discover additional challenges with converting the conceptual to operational execution. There will be issues that were not anticipated. We must be prepared to identify these issues, determine impact and potential solutions, and prioritize where our focus and resources need to be in closing the gaps. As I said before, this is a journey which will require some time before we reach steady state. I ask each of you to become as fluent and conversant in WellSafe and the GTS as you can be. We will continue doing many of the same tasks we currently perform, but in a different framework with an added amount of structure and rigor.
