To illustrate this graphically, you can see here the neurons present at birth with the connections between them. And each brain cell at birth has about 1500 connections, by 3 years of life it is over 100,000 connections and by 15 years of life you can see that there is a gradual …..as some pathways are not being reinforced. To illustrate this another way, I will show you here the breathing of a one day old infant listening to music. This is the breathing pattern, and first Mozart is playing, and then Stravinsky comes on, and then Mozart again. Now I show you this not to portray and infant critique of classical music (not clear here), but some of you who know classical music might have a theory for what Stravinsky did this to this poor infant’s breathing pattern, I show it to you to demonstrate that there is a discernible physiological reaction in infants to what they are hearing even on one day of life. This baby distinguishes between Mozart and Stravinsky, it makes her think differently. No the brain develops from the back to the front as we go from childhood to adulthood. And I will show you that here it will be demonstrated by the blue, as the blue progresses you will see starting at the back of the brain all the way to the front.
