I'm in Chicago and its -3 with the wind-chill this morning. I usually wiggle my fingers to keep the blood/warmth flowing to my hands. This time I just kept them still just to see how the gloves would shield me from the bitter cold and my finger tips weren't even beginning to start to feel cold! My palms were actually almost too warm.
These are easily the warmest gloves I've EVER owned. I think the difference is the amount of and location of Primaloft used in this glove. I'm big believer of primaloft - I have a winter bike jacket and it makes my down jacket from a certain "P*" brand feel like a burlap jacket.
I have another pair of primaloft/leather/gortex gloves and they didn't protect my from the cold on the inside of my hands. I think they didn't use as much insulation to keep the glove flexible.
The Legend glove is noticeably thicker on the inside of my hand BUT it also much more flexible. Both sides are very plush. On the inside there is very soft fleece lining.
The leather was very buttery soft the first time I tried them on. Based on other reviews, I expected them to be much stiffer. I feel like they're already broken in - to the point I checked to make sure they weren't a slightly used pair.
I got these gloves in all black. They're very discrete at glance - which is what I wanted, since they primarily for commuting/walking to work in Chicago. Upclose they look a very technical. My wife asked my if they were a racing glove with all the padding on the back of the hand and knuckles.
The level of detail and workmanship that was used in making the glove is impressive. I cant imagine how many individually cut pieces of leather went into making these gloves. They remind me of some of the Rapha gear I own.
The only thing I found weird #at first# was I found the glove was hard to get into, which was surprising since I have very small wrist and a got a medium sized glove. The part of the glove that goes around your wrist has elastic and is very snug as you try to slide your fingers into the glove. But once you get your hands everything felt fine.
Finally, from a cost perspective, these gloves are an amazing value #read: "steal"#. I don't know how BD can get all this quality and materials into this product while other gloves are sorely lacking one or both.
If BD continues making stuff this amazing at this price point I will be buying a lot of their stuff.
My fingers thank you BD for a outstanding product.
