he article discusses issues relating to the assessment of literacy skills among students for whom English is a second language, or English learners (ELs), in a multimodal classroom. It addresses the creation of a digital video composition as a project to engage ELs to benefit their literacy skill and development. It comments on the methodology of assessing young adults' literacy skills, the relationship between multimodality and literacy skill development, and the positive impact on oral language development among ELs.
