In addition, an emphasis was given to providing workers with extensive information on the company's financial situation so that employees could see the bigger picture around the change effort. Much effort and resources were also devoted to employee training. External consultants provided training in areas such as teamwork, running effective team meetings, improving internal and external customer relations, as well as enhancing problem solving and seeking root causes to problems so that continuous improvements could be made. Consultants also developed train-the-trainer systems in which technical experts within the company were provided with skills on how to teach others within the organization to work effectively in manufacturing cells. In addition, internal techmical training and cooperative educational programs have been utilized to improve skills in areas such as statistical process control, group technology, quality at the source, print reading, gauge usage, and geometric tolerance.
