film-making is a language. the difference in lighting is brutal (wtfock’s lighting is warm and soft, the shadows are non-existent here), but also the choice of shots: like, that opening upper shot in wtfock doesn’t happen by chance. there’s a very deliberate choice there, a big ass bed and them together hugging in the middle, so so close: there’s a desperate, adoring quality to it, like lovers trying to hold on to each other no matter what. we literally get 20-30 seconds of robbe and sander cuddling softly before anything changes, and the camera follows them quietly, too: close ups of sander playing with robbe’s necklace, of his soft face relaxed against robbe’s chest. the scene in this case is meant to lull you into a sense of security: it’s warm. so warm, loving. it’s tenderness made image. lovers in bed. it’s meant to feel like that.
